Propaganda Poster

Image
Propaganda Poster Original Self-Portrait Artist Statement:      For my propaganda poster, I decided to pick a topic that has been an on-going issue in my home state as well as all around the world. Ocean pollution has been rapidly increasing, killing large amounts of marine life. I really started to notice the abundance of trash in our oceans when I went home this past summer. I was swimming in the ocean and noticed an immense amount of plastic water bottles and bags floating around me. This made me very upset considering how much the ocean means to me. Growing up in Rhode Island, I was surrounding by beaches and the ocean. I would swim and surf almost everyday, and seeing the way people treat the ocean makes me want to do whatever I can to stop this from getting worse.      Rhode Island is a big tourist location because of the beautiful beaches surrounding the state. If ocean pollution continues to increase in that area, no one will want to visit. This will make ocean lovers, such as

Logos

Logos     Above is the finished version of my colored logos design. For this assignment, I thought of my hobbies and interests, just like the other projects I've completed for this class. Obviously, the ocean and surfing are the biggest things that keep me going in life. First, I thought of  incorporating a surfboard into my logo, but I did that for the calligram design so I figured I would steer in a different direction for this design. I am from Rhode Island, a state that I absolutely love considering how happy I am when I am home. An anchor is a big symbol for my home, which means it is a big symbol for me as well. It symbolizes hope, something that I live by everyday. There is always hope that something amazing will happen. I added in some waves as well to give it more detail and to really put an emphasis on my love of the ocean. This logo has a lot of meaning to me, so I think that it really works as my personal logo.      For this assignment, I used the rectangle tool, the

CALLIGRAM

Artist's Statement        Before I began my design in adobe illustrator, I wrote out a letter to my future self, 20 years from now. This took a lot of effort and brainstorming because I had no idea where I would be in 20 years from now. I have a long list of goals and aspirations that I wish to achieve, so I decided to start there. I listed all of my emotional goals, especially those relating to the present time. I do not wish to live my live thinking about my past mistakes or what could happen in the future, I wish to live my life in the present. I am currently struggling with that, so I hope my future self has tackled that problem. I then went into my career goals in real estate and my family goals. I hope my future self reads this one day and has  accomplished everything I intend to accomplish.       After I finished my letter, I began brainstorming of how to  incorporate this into a design. I thought of creating a house based on my love of real estate, but I figured this woul

Illustator Homework #1

The three videos I chose to look deeper into improved my overall understanding and ability to use and navigate adobe illustrator.  Getting Started with Adobe Illustrator for Beginners Tutorial After watching the first video, I learned many tricks in tools regarding adobe illustrator. I have never used this software before, so it is almost like learning another language for me. This video goes into detail about the tools and skills needed to create successful designs in this software. I found that the “document setup” button is very useful for altering the width and the height of the canvas in order to set up a specific artboard before starting with illustrator. When using the rectangle tool, or M on the keyboard, I learned that pressing shift as I am dragging the mouse will create a perfect square, which is very helpful. I will use this when creating concise shapes in my projects. I think that the tools will be easier to use when I memorize all of the shortcut keys and what tool they s

Canvas Project

Sunsets In Paradise          The photo seen above is my finished work of the canvas project. When I first started brainstorming ideas for this assignment, I thought of creating a peace sign using a human with a tree sprouting in the background (as you can see down below). As I started creating this work in Adobe Dreamweaver, I realized that spending hours and hours creating a design that I was not fully invested would not be beneficial for anyone. I decided to scratch that idea, and come up with a new image based on a few things I love in life. The first thing I thought of while brainstorming news ideas was the ocean. I grew in Rhode Island, a place surrounded by beautiful beaches. My love of surfing, the ocean, and sunsets led me to the idea of creating the design you see above. I did not draw inspiration for my final design, I just started creating the piece and went from there.      My design consists of more than 10 various shapes, quadratic curves, bezier curves and a gradient ba
